Best and worst Cover Versions |
|
Anyone have a favourite cover version of a song?
For me it's Marilyn Manson with their version of "Sweet Dreams", originally by Annie Lennox?Eurythmics. It's brilliant, even better than the original in my opinion.
Worst has to be Westlife's with "The Rose", I heard it a few days ago and my ears still hurt from listening to the massacre they've made of it...such a beautiful song when sung by people who can sing, like Bette Midler, her version is great, but Westife just can't do it justice

Hmmm, can't think of to omany good ones but there are plenty of awful ones - i think the most noteable being those two Pop Idol blokes (Will Young and the other one ) ripping Long and Winding Road to shreds...total bilge...

that's the problem when we start discussing the awful ones, there are so many we coudl set up our own forum for it, the list just goes on and on and on! Mostly seems to be populated by the pp idol/xfactor/other crap so-called talent shows/anyone managed by simon cowell or louis walsh brigade.
I feel an execution coming on....

Jeff Buckley's beautiful rendition of Halleluljah and All on The Watch Tower kicked Bob Dillon's versions ass.

^^ Thanks! It's not bad, not sure it's my kind of thing really...not that I have a definitive kind of thing!
I really like a version of David Bowie's Let's Dance that is out at the moment (And I'm a massive Bowie fan so that's saying a lot), can't remember the artist's name though....I'm dreadful!
