I was reading the episode description for episode 19 - "The Brig" on Lostpedia And part of it got me thinking
Spoiler:
A newly focused Locke breaks away from "The Others" in an attempt to persuade Sawyer to help rid them of a great nemesis that has caused nothing but pain in both of their lives
I am wondering, is it possible that Anthony Cooper (Locke's dad) is the real Sawyer? I know it is a bit random... and there isn't much proof to suggest this, but Sawyer has spent his whole life looking for the person who conned his parents, and well, to me, seems to make sense that Cooper would be Sawyer, because there is no one else on the Island that has caused Real Pain in Sawyer's life.
Just a theory.
And thoughts?

This theory has come up before and hopefully we'll learn whether it is the case sooner or later, it's been mentioned a few times, ever since we learned that Locke's dad was a con man, I'm not sure what I think but it would be another fantastic connection - especially ass he's on the island.

guess this theory proved right, although lost was leading towards it - good ending i thought

OK...now since it was proven that Cooper was indeed the "real Sawyer". My question to you is this.
How sure are we that Cooper was Lockes dad? I mean just because he calls him dad, and the transplant happened. Could it be that it was indeed just a massive con? And with the help of Lockes mom he just did what he needed to so that he could survive? He wouldn't really need to be his dad, and his mom very well could have been paid off to get Locke involved.
That is a possibility, I suppose the charmer that Cooper was when he wanted to be, it's feasible that he managed to get a list of people with matching tissue types and when John Locke's name came up as someone who was in foster care and never met his real parents, it might have offered the opportunity for the ultimate con. We don't know that the mother really was his mother either, we're just going on the word of two people who have shown us that they can't be trusted.
Of course, due to the nature of lost, if that is the answer to your question, it throws up another - who are Locke's real parents? It has been mentioned that the name Locke's mother gave was Emily, the same as Ben's mother. Coincidence? Something deeper?

I was actually thinking the same thing after I got done posting. What if she wasn't his mother either? it would open a whole different can of worms. Was Locke born on the island? Seems doubtful since he seems to age normally, but I guess we don't know that for sure. we do know that he has something special with the island, and that rings of the "hostiles" and the aging of them. So was Locke born on island, and then maybe before things got out of control or what have you. Did he get taken off the island by either his parents...or could he have been shipped off the island to see what would happen to him on the outside world? research maybe?
