My Danielle Rousseau/The Dharma Initiative Theory:

I was watching S1E09 – Solitary when a sudden theory struck me. This might be crazy but I think that new recruits for the Dharma Initiative might have come over on the boat Danielle Rousseau was on 16 years before the losties came to the island. The boat wreck might have been intentional. Danielle went insane quickly and had hallucinations that her crew got sick and she killed them and her husband. During the hallucinations the others, who were still part of the Dharma Initiative, ran away with Alex.

this kind of ties in with a theory i've been on about for a while (don't have it posted here though in full though soem of it is in the disease thread ,I must get around to it, it was on the old site) that Danielle was acutally part of the Dharma inititive and she and her team were replacements...then when the others took the baby the rest of her team might have considered joining them and this is what she considered to be the sickness, that they were crazy nough to want to bhe a par tof this group, and she killed them. she's had sixteen years to convince herself of the way things are.

I like the idea of the hallucinations as well though ,good alternative, keep them coming, I love theories!
