Pirates of the Caribbean 3 |

Anyone seen it? Is it any good?
I loved the first one, absolutely loved it, but the second was a big disappointment for me. Will probably wait till it comes out on DVD for this one, but am interested to know what people who have seen it in the Cinema thought.

I seen it the other day actually. Very trippy! Loved all the weird stuff. Prefered it to the second film actually but I can't really remember that!

It was pretty forgettable, the second one! Not a patch on the first anyway!

I was going to see it , but I was put off by the fact that it's 3hrs long or something -does it feel that long or is it one of those films that you don't notice the time because it's so good?

No, didn't feel that long. Tis a pretty surreal film. Lots of cool stuff. I didn't get bored anyway! Well that's a lie actually, I got a little bit bored and occupied myself folding sweet wrappers into triangles and throwing them at people for a little while. . . but apart from that! Was good!

i thought it was amazing . . . but some people who haven't seen the first and second films in a while didn't understand the third, so didn't like it

I saw this last night (at last) and wasn't at all impressed, better than the second one but nowhere near as good as the first I thought.

I was just gonna say I liked it, but then realised that I've already said that in this thread! There was one bit with the crabs I thought was hilarious, or it might've been that bit with his brain actually, can't remember!

The bit with his brain was hilarious, the funny scenes were great, (my favourite was at the end when he was in the dinghy and he asked the compass where the thing he wanted most was and it pointed to the rum! ) I think there just weren't enough of them!
I thought some of the action scenes went on forever, especially the one in the maelstrom, and I'm not a big fan of Orlando Bloom's character so the "marry us Barbossa" scene just made me cringe. Then there was the Lord Whatever his name was who was out to get all the pirates, he had such a dramatic death scene but i didn't think his character was developed enough to warrant it. Kiera Knightly didn't annoy me as much as she usually does.....on the whole I think there just wasn't enough Johnny Depp!
The first one was so great because there was so much comedy as well as the action and drama, and Johnny Depp was clearly the star of the show, whereas in the second one and this one I just thought it was dragged out and didn't have enough comic stuff.

Ah yeah, Chow Yun Fat's character you mean? I was really excited when I saw he was in it then he wasn't in it much and I didn't really see the point of him!!
I loved all the trippy stuff in it though. All those Jack Sparrows!!!

No, he was cool when he was in it but not in it enough as you say, I meant the English guy, maybe he was a general rather than a Lord? The one in command of the fleet.

I'm not much good with names, that's probably him though. He ordered the death of Elizabeth's father and was the one captain Jack pretended to make a deal with.

I don't remember. Did he do something heroic just before he died?

No, that was the guy who used to go out with Elizabeth (or was arranged to marry her or something in the first one) he wasn't too bad, he sacrificed himself for her and the pirates, the other guy just sailed his ship between Jack/barbossa's and Will's and got blown to smithereens!

No, he wasn't really, that's why i thought this big dramatic scene when everything suddenly went wrong for him and his crew abandoned ship and he didn't know what to do and got blown up was a bit of a waste of time.
