JATE! Very Happy

They just get eachother on another level, what they have is love and Skate is just lust.
That lust has been fulfilled too, so we are going to see Skate sink to the ocean floor, Kate's already ditched Sawyer for Jack.

Remember opposites attract, and thats exactly what Jate is.

No way, Jack is just so patronising he doesn't deserve Kate, no real man would feel the need to boss a woman around all the time to make himself feel macho!

I disagree, I just think he doesn't ultimately respect her, but it is good to have a debate going!

Since when did he boss Kate around?
He told her to not come with them on the 'get Micheal back' trip, becuase he didnt want her to get into danger.
If I remember correctly, in these last few eppy's Sawyer has been telling Kate exactly what to do the way he wants it, and she stood up for herself told him that she didnt like it, but continued to do so.

Jack just wants to protect her, its what people do for the ones they love.

I dont think Skate is perfect either - but there's something patronising and overbearing about Jack. I don't get them as a couple at all...

He was put into a leader position without wanting too.
I know many people dont like Jack, but when he's with Kate they just get eachother.

Jack could have revoked the leader position to Locke or Sayid many a time and didn't - as his omnipresent flashbacks show, he likes being in control and feels the need to fix situations...

As a character I really don't like Jack (is it obvious?!) which makes me dislike Jate a lot - in fact I often think that they have a Parent/Child relationship instead of a relationship of equals....

I really don't think they do get each other, Kate's been able to be herself far more around Sawyer, at least when she yells at him they can have a proper argument/discussion, whereas when she's with Jack I think it's too much like it was when she married the Policeman, there woudl always be a bit of herself she'd need to keep hidden. I'm not saying Sawyer is ideal either, but i think they make a better couple than Jate. Wanting to protect someone is fine, but jack doesn't behave like he has respect for Kate, and respecting someone is more important than wanting to protect them.

Well Locke and Sayid are kinda leaders now, but Jack is a doctor. He needs to be slightly controling to actualy tell poelpe what to do for their health.

Plus I dont usually see parents and their children make out in the middle of the jungle, flirt naturally and show so much attraction just through their eyes, they dont need to have sex to know the other cares about them, unlike a certain couple on this show.

It's not in that way she means they're like parent and child, it's just that Jack always thinks he knows best, a lot of real relationships are like that (women looking for substitute dads, men looking for a women who will do everything for them like their mummy did) but just because it is commonplace doesn't mean that it's healthy.

Exactly AR - i didn't mean literally, ew!!

In the way that Kate looks for his approval, he's often patronising and overprotective of her and acts like an authority figure around her. Which I think is why I find the relationship strange, Kate's an independant figure, it frustrates me that she changes into someone else, less independant when she's with Jack.

i think it's because she has "daddy issues" - she had a strong role model for a father, then discovered the nasty drunken layabout was her dad, so she craves a strong male presence, and by telling her what to do, acting overprotective and patronising and refusing to acknowledge her as a grown, independent and capable woman Jack fits the bill perfectly.

Yep, I think you're right there! I'm not really a shipper in any particular direction but there's something a bit wrong about Jate in my opinion.

Okay I understand some of your points but...
This whole show is about redemption, becoming the thing you want to be and leaving the past behind you, so how is Kate going to get her redemption from Sawyer? A con-man who has had many a run in with the law, and uses women not fully appreciating them.
Though I feel Kate has given Sawyer his redemtion he cannot giver her ners, I fell that only Jack can do this.

He has already taught her to deal with fear, he has made her fell safe and she is comfortable around him. If you admire someone ofcourse you going to listen to what they say, but he isnt patronizing her, when he told her to leave at the glass scene, I think its because he realised that the others were using his only weakness, Kate.
He wanted her safety, not to control her, I would take the chance to leave if I could, just because another person told me to doesnt mean that I am following orders, he was giving her a chance and she took it.
He sacrificed his freedom for hers, I think its beautiful.
