Two IslandsHow come Desmond said that he could not leave the island by boat, but there is another island off shore where the others are 'Alcatraz'?

not sure - maybe he got out beyond that island (or left from the the other side of the Losties island) and was brought back after a certain distance - but you're right, if he was looking hard enough he could have ended up on Alcatraz!

question is how has nobody else found alactraz didnt Sayid go mapping the island in season 1 but we never found out how far he got i guess and theres been enough hikes how has nobody been to the other beach and seen it and what confuses me is the other obviously take jack kate and sawyer by boat how did the three of them not be able to tell they were on a boat

They were knocked out at the end of the last episode of season 2 and were kept unconscious for a while so wouldn't have realised, and I don't think they were taken by boat, I think they wereput on the sub, it makes more sense.
As for Sayid I don't think he got that far, he found the line leading to the water and followed it after only a few miles, and I'd say in Desmond's boat they probably sailed on the other side of the main island. The main island is pretty big, and there are pl;enty of inlets and headlands, they mgith never have been in a place where they could see it.

yeah tis a big island. i always wonder why, in desmonds flashback of when he killed kalvin (i think that was his name) the terrain was really weird, like hard, dry sand? but i thought it was really cool anyhow!
i think they would have been taken by boat - as they took jack back to main island by boat. i guess jack will be blindfolded/knocked out at the other end so he doesn't know how to escape...

is jack in episode 13 though? i think hurley's episode was the first ever to not have jack in!
