TorchwoodAnyone watch this? It's a Doctor Who spin-off starring Captain Jack Harkness. I saww the first two episodes last week and really enjoyed it (i don't have BBC3 so I have to wait till wednesdays on BBC2) and am relly looking forward to tonight's episode. the guy who plays Captain Jack is pretty damn hot and the other characters seem good too.
It's aimed at more of an adult audience than Doctor Who so there is some bad language and reference to matters of a sexual nature (though it's still BBC at 9pm so it's not exactly hardcore lol)
I'd recommend it from what I've seen so far - It's got aliens and great technology, good characters, funny and insightful dialogue and good-looking actors in the lead roles plus some nifty special effects...everything you want from Science Fiction

Torchwood is progressing well, probably not everyone's cup of tea but I like it, might appeal to fans of Buffy as there's a lot of humour in there, and plenty of sexual politics as well. Anyone else seen it? I must say as well that the guy who plays Ianto is kinda cute, but John Barrowman who plays captain Jack Harkness is pretty good looking.

I think it's fab and I visit the locations it's filmed every week lol.

wow, cool! I really enjoyed it, lookign forward to the new series, it's great that it can get away with being more adult than doctor who, and I love the sesxual innuendo all the time, hilarious. Plus John Barrowman is pretty good looking.

i watched the first series when it was on. I didn't miss an episode but i read a lot of bad reviews. I thought it was pretty good but some people didn't. At least we have Doctor Who as well. lol

I'd recommend it - I saw some bad reviews as well but I think you have to rememebr that the job of critics is to critisise - and I bet a lot of them would give up their jobs in a flash if they were offered the chance to write a TV show, so a lot of it is jealousy. That's my opinion anyway!

Yeah Critics have to find somethign to complain about alot like the unfaithful lost fans theres something new to moan about each week

not as good as Doctor Who

Doctor Who is one of the ultimate all time sci fi shows, but Torchwood is different, it doesn't' have all that to live up to, it'll take time to develop the characters, but as it's for adults I think it could be as good as Dr Who in time. I loved series one, and can't wait for it to be back on.

i think doctor who is better

I love Dr Who, but torchwood is more my theme of sci-fi show.

It's more grown up, because of the time Doctor Who is shown at and the audience it therefore receives, it wouldn't get away with the more adult themes that Torchwood does. I love them both though.

Same here. So the question is now, who's sexier David Tennant or John Barrowman?
|
April_Rose

Barrowman for me, I like David Tennant as the doctor, but I don't find him particularly attractive, but Barrowman is a different story, he's got a sexiness in his swagger and 1940's style clothes!

A few days ago I would say David Tennant, because he's my type of guy and he seems to have an amazing personality. But I watched 8 out of 10 cats and John did this "RAWR!" thing, hard to explain, but it was so darn adorable that I've fallen inlove shame he's gay...and married. lol.

I know...still, good to fantasise!

Don't know really, most of them were good. The weirdest was the one about the town of cannibals! I'm enjoying the new doctor who as well, I like the new assistant, I wasn't expecting to but I do.

Ughhh that episode "countrycide" i watched it on my own at midnight. scared me to death.
and the worst part is me and my dad used to go to the brecon beacons (where the village of cannibals, not anymore. Scared me WAY too much. I love the episode "captain jack harkness" it's beautiful.
The new dr who is amazing. I LOVE Martha. And same here, I was like "No Billie's gone" but i really like her.
|
April_Rose

yeah, they've worked hard at making her very different to Rose, while Rose was enthusiastic and excitable and working class and very much a doer, Martha is more sceptical and intellectual and more likely to consider things. I like the way they refer to each other as Miss Smith and Mister Jones as well, funny every time!
yeah that episode scared me as well, was "Captain Jack Harkness" the one where he met the real, original one in the forties, the second last one? I'm not good with episode titles!

Yeah, I like what they've done, after all it would of been boring if they had just stuck in someone like Rose. And yeah I love that too, when they refer to themselves as Miss Jones and Mr Smith
I really like their relationship too..can I call it that? lol.
What did you think of last weeks episode freaked me out!
haha
And yeah that's the one. I love the lovey dovey mushy ones though. haha. Super Cute

That was a good episode, the torchwood one.
I liked last week's episode, it was so funny, the way the doctor kept giving Shakespeare his own future lines and storylines, I think the writers must have had a marvellous time with it and it came across very well!

It's pretty good - I didn't watch all of it but it's a bit darker and more adult than Dr Who. Still loads of running around and monster chasing though, so that's a good thing!
