Seen it! Yay! Good stuff... spent the first few minutes ranting inanely at Jack.  I still hate the flashforwards. Charlie stuff so sad!  Will say more when I'm less excited! Was good!!

Average episode really for a season opener. Hurley ruled in the ep, there was some weird and emotional Charlie moments but some of it was just too weak. Despite that, things will lead up to the next episode quite nicely. | |

I loved the Hurley stuff, and the trippy Jacob stuff. Hated all the Jack stuff, he just makes me go rage blackout as soon as he's on screen! Claire's reaction to the Charlie news was weak.

Yeah I was really bothered by Claire's reaction but Hurley telling her that was so sad from his perspective. The scene nearly made me cry despite the fact I never really cared about Charlie.
The Jack stuff never really bothered me too much in this episode, I think I'm getting used to the fact that whatever Jack does will bore and irritate me. Loved how Hurley picked Locke's side and not his though

Yeah I loved that bit! I'd so choose Locke over Jack. Hurley was really emotional in that ep, Jorge's very good at that stuff methinks!

Yeah I thought Jorge done a terrific job and is perhaps the most underated actor on the show. In this ep Hurley went through a wide range of emotions, he was really overjoyed at the start and ended off being angry (and taking some of it out on Jack ). Was a great performance by him.

Loved Hurley in this episode! I thought it was great, I know what you mean about it being weak for a season opener Xarca but compared to Lost season openers I thought it was better than the last 2. Hurley's reaction to Charlie's death was so sad.
Loved it when Ben said to Jack "At least someone knows what they're doing!" Kate was a bit more like herself, though she did stick with Jack. Good short scene with her and Sawyer I thought, when she asked him what he was doing.
Jack annoyed me but it was great when loads of people deserted him, he looked really distraught! 
I really liked the flashforward! It seems to be a fair bit before the other one we saw, so we know that Jack's perspective changes over time. Wonder what was up with seeing Charlie?  The other guy saw him as well! And he slapped Hurley on the face....
Lots of ideas bubbling in my head now, will post more thoughts when I get them clearer!

Yeah, it could be! I still lean toward Michael though....but I'm just not sure! And we might not know for a while!
There's just so many questions raised by it (I've watched it again)....is Charlie a ghost? if so how come the other guy sees him as well? And is the scary black guy that comes to see him a representative of Dharma, or the Others? And how does Hurley go from being in Locke's group to Jacks, as he must since he gets off the island - but what consequences does that action have, as he was apologising to Jack for going with Locke? And what changes Jack's perspective from compliance to being a while lot crazier than Hurley by the time we see him in his flahforward? Why does Kate want to get off the island when she's facing jail? Even though from what we saw, she doesn't end up there - that's another thing that makes me think there was some kind of agreement, that Dharma agreed to keep her out of jail if she signed up to their cover story. And if the "Oceanic 6" did sign up to some sort of cover story, which what we've seen points toward - the cop asks Hurley if he saw Ana Lucia on the plane, but not the 90 days they were on the island, so I get the impression that they told the world that there were just the 6 of them, marooned on a tiny sandbank type thing somewhere near where the plane was supposed to have crashed - if they abandoned the rest of them and went home are they any better than Michael, really? |

sounds about right ... maybe the people that have just landed on the island agreed to only take 6 off .. and the reason they're covering it up is because the don't want to be the people that chose themselves instead of others ... if that makes sense ...
i agree with what you suggest about only the 6 of them + micheal surviving the plane crash, that seems to be what others think sooo many questions to be answered!! ..

Although we haven't seen Michael, and haven't seen Walt since the S3 finale....they're meant to be back though....harold perrinaeu is listed in the main actor credits though we didn't see him so looks like it's true that he's going to be back as Michael soon....
i don't know if it's that the Dharma crowd would have said that they'd only take 6, maybe more that the rest of the ones that went with Locke just didn't trust that they'd actually be taken off the island at all so they stayed there and hid....but when Hurley and jack were talking about going back it makes me wonder if the ones left behind ended up as Dharma research subjects or something.... Also noticed something I thought was interesting - Do Monaghan is still listed in the main actors credits, rather than as a guest star, which i thought was kind of weird, unless he's going to be popping up a whole lot! I mean, the actors that play Shannon and Boone if they appear now only get credited as guest stars! And John Terry, (jacks Dad, Christian Shepherd) is listed as a guest star as well but I didn't see him - did anyone spot him? |

We did! We might be seeing more of him than we first thought - maybe he haunts all of the 6 who got off the island as something happened to Jack in between Hurley's flash and his one to make him change his perspective - and if he slapped Hurley to convince him he was real, fingers crossed ghost Charlie smacked Jack around the head with a shovel!
That Christian is dead Jen? After the mobisodes I really don't belive he's dead, no way! i think he was working for Dharma all along and wanted jack to be his usual annoying self as it was bound to lead Dharma to the island....I just wondered why he was credited when i didn't see him.... |

yeah. we did too! Turns out they had one of those "catch-up" shows on before it when it aired in the States, the trailers all said "2 hour premiere event...." But that must have been what they meant. Disappointing! What did you think of the episode though?

i take it youve seen season 2, it also got cut short because of strike and has delayed season 3. i have to say that heroes is totally awesome, i think i preferred it to lost. i wasnt as excited at lost coming on this season but now it has started i'm hooked again | |

OH MY GOD!!!? OH MY GOD!?! Thas about the only words of a sentence i can string togther in an effort to describe it at th moment. ok so yes i did watch it, i couldn't resist once i got my acess to the other bit accepted.i mean i thought i might as well really.thankyou again for sorting that for me AR. but ok seriously (evn tho im losin th ability to speak afta seeing that), so it wasnt all that great im overexageratin a tad maybe, no actually ignor that what am i saying it was pretty damm good for a season opener, sepcially in lost terms. i mean its set th scence up nicely, threw in the odd surprises an godsmacked momnents and generally got us all confused an gave us a load of unanswered questions all over again.god ole lost eh,neva one to let us down in terms of the wow/what the hell factors.i swear we'r all gona end up in that mental home with hurley when this is all over. anyway i wont say much on what actually happened cos im sure u lot have touched on that already (sorry ive not had time to proply read any posts in here yet) and otherwise ill be ramblin on all nite an im sure u dont want that.what i will say tho which again im sure someone will hav mentioned already, but ther we go.is anyone else gettin more than a lil bit worried that sawyer mite well not be one of the 'oceanic 6'?! cos he went with locke dint he.an that ironically seems to b th wrong descion as things stand so far.but then again hursly went with lock n he's alrite so thers stil hope i suppose.also is it jus me whos findin lost rather scary of late? specially when they keep doin all the creepy jacob stuf. i mite hav to sleep with the light on tonite. | |

I think Lost feel they have to leave us confused, it's part of the fun! I bet we'll still say WTF? when the series ends in three years as well! There'll still be issues to debate.
I liked the creepy Jacob stuff, no idea what's going on with that but it was a nice touch! They covered most stuff during this season opener, in the last couple they focussed on one group, but everyone was in this one, it was a lot less frustrating for that reason. Can't wait for next week!

Overall, I think the episode was pretty good and about what I was expecting it to be. I enjoyed how they involved all of the characters, and got the series moving for once, and am definitely keen to see the next episode; I'm all excited about all the new questions they've added now, and am quite impressed, thought I didn't think I would be, with the flashforwards.
In my opinion, having these flashforwards means you really end up trying to think about how what is happening on the island now leads up to what we see in the future, e.g. Hurley went with Locke but got off the island with Jack. I also wondered about the Charlie ghost and how Hurley's institute friend saw him as well, and just had a thought that perhaps Hurley's friend is not real either, like that odd character Dave in S2. |

That's a possibility but then how did Charlie slap Hurley? There's a lot to think about regards that!
I liked the flahsforwards - I'd love to see one for someone who isn't one of the Oceanic 6 though, see what happens to the ones left behind. |

It was good, but not jaw-dropping Oh My God good I reckon! I loved the fact that it was Hurley-centric and ghost Charlie appearing was excellent.
THe cabin stuff was also good - I couldn't work out wha the picture Hurley saw on the cabin wall was though. I'll try and get a screencap. It looked a bit like a hooded figure to me, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part
Wierd how Sayid stayed with Jack....although heh doesn't much like Locke I thought Hurley's speech might have convinced him. Finally - Kate is lame for staying with Jack. All she does now is looked pained in the general direction of Jack or Sawyer, it's like they've forgotten what her character was like in Season 1
EDIT: So I found a screencap...and the pic's a dog. So much for my spooky theory . I still reckon its pretty sinister though...

hey jack is ok i have no problem with him personally we all have daddy issues dnt we. but i hated it wen i kicked the hell outta locke and he actually pulled the trigger thnk god it wsnt loaded.but the funny thing was this eps didnt look like a season premier to me just another episode, a good one thou.still not so sure about

Ah so the guy in the chair was Christian, interesting! i thought he was the eye but when I took a screencap of it it didn't look like him... Didn't like Kate going with Jack either but I do think the way she handled the Naomi thing was a big improvment on how she was toward the end of S3.... Couldn't believe that Jack was willing to shoot Locke though! I watched it on TV again last night when I got home and one thing that really doesn't make sense to me is why Hurley said he should have gone with Jack...we know he ends up off the island....and according to spoilers for who the others members of the "Oceanic 6" are there was one particular person who stuck with Jack that I noticed wasn't mentioned as one of them.....what if that person dies as a result of Hurley changing sides?

I finally managed to watch this episode after a hectic couple of days. I enjoyed it a lot as we got to see a lot of the characters instead of just focusing on one particular person. I think, however, it could have been a little better for a season opener, but as AR said, Lost season openers are generally dissappointing, but saying that i still loved it. 
The Oceanic 6 thing is interesting, a good twist. I literally screamed at the tv when Jack went to shoot Locke, i can't believe he actually pulled the trigger!! damn he makes me angry. ......oh and charlie appearing in this episode.....wow....how hot did he look? *faints* |
