Reality tv - love or hate it?I used to love reality t.v, but dont like it much anymore - I used to love big brother, but the last season was stupid - it had over 20 housemates!

I don't really know anymore, I find it entertaining but I hate it afterwards. All the headlines and 5 minute marriages extra.

Im ashamed to admit that i do actually quite like reality tv shows, most of them at least. I find that once i start watching its hard to stop!

Yeah, I hate it, I want to make a career as a writer and reality tv is taking great comedies and dramas off the airwaves. It's the cheapest and easiest thing to replace a show with if it gets cancelled.
What annoys me most is the idea that these people then get their own autobiography book deals, tv talk shows and generlly a career, just out of being sick every night in the big brother house or doign soemthing creative with a bottle or whatever. I know it can be addictive but if it was done as some kind of social experiment it might be interesting but the way it is done it is blatant exploitation, not of the poeple in the shows but the audience. I see reality tv as a threat to shows like Lost and wish they would all just go away.

I think it started off with a good premise - I watched the first big brother and enjoyed it, but in those days it really was about seeing how people react when they are placed in an enclosed space for 10 weeks with no contact with the outside world. Now it all seems to be about trying to get them to get drunk and do something stupid or have sex. If we wanted to see that surely we'd just hire a porno? (Sorry to be explicit here)
It has also changed the kind of people who want to go on these shows. the initial lot were interested in what would happen but didn't take it as a guarantee that they woudl acheive fame and fortune - Craig, the original winner, donated his money to chariuty as far as I remember and has never been seen since, but I wou,d consider what he did to be a greater acheiment than anythign Jade Goody has done. Now it seems that being being as stupid/vain as possible you will achieve glory, which i consider sad when there are so many hugely talented peopel out there - from musicians and artists and writers and sportspeople to people who do great humanitarian deeds. They deserve the recognition, not someone who just had a good audition and was therefore catapulted to fame for doing nothing.
(What a rant! I really should be getting soem work done...)

I dunno, I'm very sceptical about how the shows are edited as well, most of the time on the "live" thigns you can't hear what they say in case it's abotu soemone outside the house/island/whatever or in case they say soemthing the tv channel or production company could get sued for, and the summary programmes can be very manipulative. Just think if you were filmed 24 hours a day and only ten minutes of that was going to be shown - they coudl choose to show the one time you lost your temper or the rest of the time that you were being nice. i think shows liek wife swap are particularly bad for this.

im not sure about this, i like to watch good reality shows like x factor and im a celeb, but i hate shows like big brother, its been going on for too long and the same things are being repeated!

I despise them with a passion. Apart from I'm a celeb, which I only really watch for Ant and Dec cos I'm slightly obsessed with them!

I'm very bored of most reality shows , although I do make an exception for American Idol and X Factor, just to laugh at all the crackpots, heh heh

I used to love all types of reality tv, but now I cant stand it! + all these celeb reality tv shows are annoying aswell.... its all the down + out 1's who nobodies heared of in years trying to make a comeback, but they just dont realise that nobody cares anymore! ....except for the few people that watch the shows..... me not being one of them.
