Possible new charactersDARLENE
Early 20s, any ethnicity. A bored clerk who hates her sucky job and looks for any burst of excitement to get through the shift. Alternative in dress and style, plays guitar in her own band but needs the day job to pay the bills...CO-STAR.
JILL
Late 20s to late 30s; any ethnicity. A butcher who is one hard-as-nails cool chick. A tomboy, bit of a searcher, and highly competent beyond her station in life...CO-STAR.
Personally I think they both sound crappy! Especially the band one. Seriously, how many way are they gonna try to replace Charlie?! They shouldn't have written Charlie so crapply then Dom Mon would've stayed in it.
April_Rose
Yeah, that description doesn't make them sound like they'll add anything in particular to the storyline
Don't know if they're doing it to try to replace Charlie, are they that stupid? Charlie is irreplaceable!
Em_J
Well they've already got Sawyer looking out for Claire and pairing up with Hurley, and now they're getting another guitar playing character?! Tis stupid. All they need now is a character to come in it who's a junkie...
April_Rose
Yeah. I must admit I'm disappointed with the way it's going....I really hope the next series is good, but I've a bad feeling about it...
Em_J
Yeah I'm not looking forward to it all that much, which sucks. It's turned too much into the Jack Show for me. If Matthew Fox has had a pay rise, then surely he's going to be in season five a lot so does that mean there's going to be a lot of off island stuff? I didn't really like any of that.
April_Rose
Yeah, the way the last series ended I've a bad feeling it's all going to be about Jack trying to convince the rest of the Oceanic 6 that they need to go back to the island....I want to know what happens to the ones left on it far more as obviously they will get back at some point!
Em_J
If that's all series five is going to be about, then the whole of series four was basically pointless! Should've just kept them all on the island instead of on off on off on or whatever. Stupid sucky writers.
April_Rose
Yeah, they really should have employed us!
I know, I'd rather it focussed on Sawyer and Juliet and Miles and Claire and whoever is left, and then in the final episode the rest of them could arrive....the show is called "Lost" after all, and Jack's not bloody lost anymore!
Em_J
They really should've done, dammit!
I'd much rather see all of those left on the island. And they shouldn't have killed Keamy off cos he was a good baddie, he could've been terrorizing those left on the island.
April_Rose
Yeah, see, that's what I'm curious about - how does it get from Keamy being dead and Locke moving the island to him being off it and referring to all the bad things that happened in those 3 years or so? I want to see the three years!
Em_J
Oh god yeah I forgot the island had moved. Must've wiped that bit from my memory.
April_Rose
I want to see Locke being the leader of the Others and that kind of thing....I wasn't sure about the whole "move the island" thing but I was willing to go with it, I liked it a hell of a lot better than all the Jack posturing!
And that's the other thing - Locke was clearly destined to be on the island, with Richard (who I'd like to know more about) visiting him as a kid and everything, so why does it even matter that Jack left? Grrr!
Em_J
Yes exactly!! That makes me mad too! Everything went wrong when Jack left. Gah! I would've had a party on the bloody island when Jack left!
April_Rose
Tell me about it!!! Jack's dad now, and his connection to the island, I'm interested in that, but we don't really need Jack involved in that!
I always thought the point of Lost was the ensemble cast though, loads of different people each with their own connection to the island or each other, each with their own particular necessary skills or talents or whatever. Making it the Jack show takes all the good out of it. It doesn't help that I don't like Jack, but it shouldn't be about ANY one particular character more than the others.
Em_J
Yeah I agree totally. Much as I love Hurley, if it became the Hurley Show I'd soon be ranting about that. Jack's not even that good a character, not really. I can't see how people can't see that?! I mean, I loved Charlie, but I knew when he was becoming a terrible character!
April_Rose
Yeah, I wouldn't like it if it became the Sayid show either, that's the thing, it's supposed to be about them all!
I don't think people can see it....even at the start I always thought he was self-righteous and smug, but he's gotten worse (like saying to Kate "I was the one that saved you"?!) - it's like writing 101, a true heroic character doesn't need to tell people he's the hero!
Em_J
I tried to tell the Jack zealots on Lostie that and I got shouted down! They were so on the defensive they couldn't even hear what I was saying, let alone understand it.
I didn't mind Jack at the very start, when it was about everyone. But now it's Jack overload and he's got worse!
April_Rose
Yeah, the Jack zealots are like religious nuts, they just don't listen! I wonder for all that maybe they think he's good looking or whatever would the women among them really put up with a guy talking to them like Jack talks to Kate? Or how he treated his wife?
Yeah, when there's a big cast there's always going to be some characters that I like more than others, but it's gotten to the stage that whenever he's on screen I get annoyed!
Em_J
They would find a way to defend the way Jack speaks to people, there's someone on that site who's particularly good at defending everything that Jack does. Tis ridiculous! It makes me hate him even more, if that's possible!
I reckon I'm going to be skipping through Jack parts again this series, just like I did the last.
April_Rose
Yeah, I think I'll do the same!
Some people you just can't argue with....
Em_J
I know!
I don't think I missed anything important at all by skipping his parts.
April_Rose
I doubt it, what I remember most about them is thinking "those are minutes of my life I'm never getting back...."
Em_J
I love the Jack-hate on this site!!
April_Rose
Me too! have to be able to share! Thankfully hubby hates him as much as I do (though he's not entirely impressed when I drool over Sayid and Sawyer either....) so we tend to bitch about him after watching an episode as well!
Em_J
Nobody who I know who watches it is that bothered about Jack either way, so they don't understand my hatred!
April_Rose
Nah, he's too bad, you can't just not care about him, you have to hate him!
Off for a bit to get food, back shortly!
Em_J
I do try to explain the badness, they don't get it!!
Laters!
April_Rose
Yeah, too many people are blind to the truth about Jack!

Great two more uninspiring female characters. Did they just flick through the big book of stereotypes for those bios?! No doubt they'll end up just being background characters or some part of the bloody "triangle" - which I really just don't care about any more!
April_Rose
Hopefully background characters as they don't sound particularly interesting!
redwinegoblin
They sound rubbish. Just a mishmash of Charlie and Kate. It's totally true that Lost can't do good female characters!
April_Rose
I know, before I post this I want to point out that I am in no way homophobic, but I do wonder sometimes if Lindelof is both in love with Jack and simply doesn't know enough about women to create a good female character...
