What's everyone listening to currently?

I quite like the new killers song, when you were young, and the razorlight album isn't bad either. Most of the time though i just listen old favourites like Guns 'n' Roses, Nirvana, No doubt, Green day or the chillies, or talk radio. I don't listen to as much music as I used to, i would like to get more into it again though.

Also listening to a new Irish band, it's a friend of mine who's in it but they're really good, the terribles they're called. You can check them out on www.poltergeistrecords.com and download two of their tracks.

That's a good song, the used, catchy and got a bit of a heavy chorus but nice and acoustic at the start, I haven't heard of them before (I never hear of bands now before they're mainstream unfortunately) but the lead singer looks really familiar, can't figure out who he looks like though

That is often true but I also hate it when soemone gets popular and then their original fans say tehy've sold out, it's not their fault if more peopel hear of them or they tap into soemthing that people are into at a particular time, I really hated it when everyone said that about Green Day when they released American idiot as they weren't really that big before, still love them though and personally I think that is an epic album.

I agree with you there A_R, the only band I think have gotten big and it's really gone to their heads is Fall Out Boy, they used to be the greatest and nicest bunch of guys when I knew them but now they won't even speak to fans after shows Sad

well of course that is the other side of the coin....it's all about balance. i suppose it comes down to what people want - do they want to play music and make a living out of it (which let's face it, everyone is in it for the money to some extent as we've all got to eat) or do they just want to be rock stars, and just care about their fans as long as it suits them before dropping them for the adoring herds of sheep who have become their entourage.

I hate it when that happens because if you really identify with a band or their songs and then they go and do that it can really hurt, like a friend has betrayed you, silly maybe but it really can hurt

It's does feel that way and it's not silly.
I felt like that at FOBs last concert because I saw them when they talked to fans all night 4 years ago and now they won't come out, not nice.
I hope smaller bands I like like The Hush Sound and Gym Class Heroes don't follow the route of Mr Wentz. Sad

I try to think that i dont go off bands when they get big, but the truth is a usually do. I really went off fall out boy now that EVERYONE likes them cos they're "cool", and recently bands like Trivium and My chemical romance are on the radio and stuff and it kinda puts me off them for some reason. On the green day issue though... old green day was better than the new stuff :]

I'll agree that it was more raw but you have to remember those guys are now in their 30's and to keep a band togetherthat long without falling out or sellign out is hard, I loved what they did when they were younger but i was younger too, now that I'm in my 20's I can appreciaate the direction they're taking....just my opinion but bands have to change if they're to improve - if you look at bands that have survived more than a few years or two or three albums they all reinvent themselves - from The Rolling Stones onwards, taking in David Bowie, Neil Young, REM, U2, RHCP and now Green Day - I'm not saying I like all their reinventions but
it is the only way for them to survive - they can't keep appealing to younger people as they grow older themselves and their needs and wants change.

I dont mind that bands change their styles to fit with the crowd. Cos at the end of the day, more fans, more gigs, more money. I dont blame them lol

Yes, me and my mates (all guys) are gonna' do a parade thing like on the video for our carnival thing that happens every year, I'm playing bass.

Sad MCR and the Used broke friends, Bert and Gerard were a great pair, slightly gay, but still an amazing duo. lol.

Indeed, there's a great ska band where I live, completely insane and they do covers of the black eyed peas, they got like 12 members in the band and only about 6 do anything, the others dance lol.
