Michael Emerson to judge film contestStudent Films Across America, the first traveling student-run film festival, is accepting entries for a competition to find the best of today's high school and college student films.
Festival founders and student filmmakers Brian and Steven Amos will visit all 50 states leading up to an awards show in Los Angeles on Aug. 8. A screening will be June 11 at the Fleur Cinema.
Prizes include $10,000 for the Best of Fest and Audience Choice films; $2,000 each for Best Comedy, Best Drama, Best Documentary, Best High School Film and Best College Film; and $5,000 for a festival theme song chosen through online voting.
Brian, a senior at Cornell University, and Steven, a sophomore at Drake University, have a panel of celebrity judges that includes actor Michael Emerson from the TV show "Lost" and screenwriter John August ("Big Fish," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Charlie's Angels").
