Kate(This post contains spoilers for those who haven't seen the first episode of season 4)
Just wondering where Kate is going as a character...I really didn't like the way she was at the end of S3, after she'd been one of my favourites since the start. I wanted to smack her when she told Jack about Naomi, and she seemed to defer to him way too often, after she'd been the one to organise the rescue mission to get Jack back earlier, she'd been resourceful and strong...
Anyway, I've seen the new episode twice now, the first time I was annoyed that she stuck with Jack, especially considering she's facing life in prison if she gets off the island, that was referred to a lot in S1, but not so much since then. The second time I watched it though I realised that she wasn't taking any crap from Jack - when he disagreed with her, in his usual annoying, patronising way, she just ignored him.
Rather than argue with him, which she's probably learned won't get her anywhere, she pretended to go along with what Jack said, but she trusted her own instincts - she knew she was right and that Jack wouldn't give her that respect, so she stole his walkie and went off on her own, and was proved right. So maybe she's not going to be so weak anymore, maybe she's just found a new way to get things done. I hope so, since she's stuck with Jack....

It annoys me how the most unpredictable character from season one and two hs become so easy to read and dependant on Jack. It just doesn't go right for Kate, she becomes quite annoying to watch in those cases.
I think she needs more scenes with other people, like Sayid and Locke.

Yeah she was good with them in S3 when they were on their rescue mission. Sayid stuck with her and Jack so she should have some more scenes with him, I think he realises how capable she is even if Jack doesn't.
I don't think she was so predictable in yesterday's episode though, they way she went her own way and basically ignored what Jack had to say, even giving him that hug was really just to get what she wanted, I noticed that the second time, she was kind of manipulating him.

Yeah I liked that just not her intentions, I think she might have been doing it to protect Jack (Or something along those lines) I like it when she does stuff for purely selfish reasons.

I didn't think she was doing it to protect Jack, more to protect everyone, she knew Jack wasn't going to listen to her - not purely selfish, but I don't think it was to protect him.

I don't know the real reason but yeah it wouldn't have been purely on Jack.
Its good to know she can still "con" anyone though, perhaps not Ben as he saw straight through her.

Well she was in his line of sight so that made it easier!  Wasn't so much that he saw right through her, as he SAW her! He's so devious himself she probably would have trouble conning him though.

Yeah but I think the reason he saw her was because he saw right through her intentions
Ben would be the perfect person for Kate (the only man to hate Jack as much as I do)

I don't see that going anywhere! Don't know if he hates Jack though, think he just sees that he isn't as special as Jack himself thinks he is....

Even though I actually like Jack I thought Ben is hilarious when he's pissing Jack off ... he's comments are awsome!

I've always loved Ben's character! He's one of those evil characters that you love, think he's ace!

if they were, I'd want Mr Friendly back I think!
