Fox To Speak At University - LOL"Matthew Fox is going to be Class Day Speaker at Columbia University onn May 15th.However, there is a student group protesting it. Columbia Students Protest Lost Star as Speaker Sorry, Charlie Salinger. Or much less politely, "Get Lost." That's the mesage from an editor for Columbia University's undergrad magazine, who in this "bwog" summons peers to protest alum Matthew Fox's serving as Class Day speaker on May 15. "We're not anti-entertainment snobs.... We're not going to pretend we wouldn't have bitched no matter who [it] was.... We're not trying to be mean," writes the daily editor for The Blue and White. "But we want a Class Day speaker that has accomplished more than being hot and lucking into [two popular TV shows]." Citing the likes of Anna Paquin, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Brian De Palma as more esteemed alumni, the editor says, "Fox's invitation to speak should be rescinded." Heh heh! I feel a bit sorry for him actually! I don't think he's the greatest actor in the world but to be rejected by a bunch of student must be a bit crushing!! |

Yeh, it is a bit harsh, being used to everyone loving you, and you decide on doing something nice by speaking at a university, then he gets it thrown in his face! |

*allows herself a teeny snigger* tee hee... It's pretty harsh - although I can't seperate him from Jack sometimes and have this vision of him sobbing outside the student union!!! |

That's a bit mean, I don't like Jack as a character but I've nothing as such against Matthew Fox, and it's a bit of a cruel statement to put out, seems very anti-entertainment snobbish to me! I'm all for high achievements and good, purposeful television and literature, but sometimes people take themselves a bit too seriously! |
