Favourite shows as a childLet's say our favourite shows from before we were ten...I know a lot of these are probably out there on the net now but I don't want to re-watch them in case they don't seem as good. I'll wait till I have children myself to rediscover the magic!
I loved:
- Teenage mutant hero turtles
- Potsworth and co (it was about a load of kids and a dog who entered the dreamzoen every night and fought the nighmare prince, don't know if anyone else remembers it/has even heard of it)
- The girl from tomorrow, the girl from tomorrow part 2: tomorrow's end. I think these were australian, shown by bbc in the late 80's, early 90's, they were children's sci-fi at its best.
- Thundercats. the mighty thundercats...what else can I say?
- Simon and the Witch, bbc show from late 80's early 90's again I think, great show.
I'm sure I'll think of more later.

The turtles - staying up after 9 on Fridays on cartoon network
Courage the Cowardly Dog - scared me but another great show.
Thomas the tank Engine - The originals were great
Angelina Ballerina - I still watch it now
Are you afraid of the dark? - the greatest nick show apart from...
Tucker - GREATNESS!! why was there only one series?! WHY?! It was the most unique and interesting show on TV, not sure if I was 10 when it was out but still amazing.
Saved by the Bell - Awesome.
Angela Anaconda - Why they got rid of it I really don't know. Amazing and original.
Banana Splits - Haha, the best.

If you ever get a chance to see it you should it is amazing.
It's so original and witty, unlike the stuff Nickelodeon have come up with these days.
So true to life, the dad running off with a younger woman, the relationship between the characters, the problems Tucker faces, everything is so real.

I like shows like that, there is this idea that TV networks have now I think that they have to protect children from all those bad things that happen in reality by throwing rubbish cartoons at them, when of course children are people who have lives as well and sometimes seeing a tv show that deals with issues that are probably happening in their own lives or that of someone they know can be far more effective than trying to pretend everything is rosy all the time. It's especially ironic when they show some rubbish and then there are a million ads which are far more manipulative and devious and scary for that reason than any tv show which deals with things like divorce or relationships between families and friends.

Haha I agree, everything is so sheltered now, that's why I turn to th 70s, 80s and early 90s for most of my TV, because things can be said then. And it was all innocent back then, it still is but people want to guard them from harsh reality.
Stupid really.

reality tends to get you whether you watch tv or not - people die, there are wars and terrorism, children lose parents and get sick themselves and stopping serious shows on tv won't help.

OoOoOo! Pingu, i used to watch that too
|

Pingu was so cool too....
I also used to love the children's tv presenters - on BBC I loved Philip Schofield and Gordon the Gopher, and in ireland we had Dempsey's den where ZIg and Zag (who went to the big breakfast later) started out and then Ray D'Arcy who now presents a radio show I listen to and Dustin the turkey. Classic. the presenters annoy me these days.

vaguely remember penny crayon, I think...this is cool as everyone remembers different stuff...I was too old for pokemon+digimon i'm afraid, never got into them at all, but i sup[ose that's just the way things work, every generation has its own.

Fraggle rock and Trapdoor for me! I used to watch Pokemon when I was a slacker student with loads of time on my hands, the flashyness and nonsensical plotlines were totally hypnotic!!!

i think sabrina is still on . . . why would anyone cancel that show?!
|
April_Rose
|
I think Melissa Joan hart is about 31 now! I think they stopped it a few years ago but they still keep showing it....
