Favourite film as a childI had a weird childhood and we weren't allowed to watch much TV - the first time I was ever in a cinema was when I was 11, took my little sister to see Aladdin.
When I was 11 though life got a bit more normal, and we got a video recorder and everything! My brother and sister and myself loved the film "The Neverending Story" and used to watch it pretty much every day, we knew all the lines but just couldn't get enough of it!
What are your memories of films you loved as a child?

may sound weird but it was actually a gory horror/comedy called Braindead. Used to always watch films I shouldn't really had as a kid.

That may explain a lot.... I don't think I've heard of that!
I missed out on so much...I actually have never seen so many of the films that people often call classics from their childhood (I've never seen Bambi)
I actually had a fight on my hands when I was 12 to get my Mum to allow me to watch Home Alone as she'd read it was full of senseless violence...was a bit of a disappointment when I did get to see it!
Then all of a sudden she loosened up and my younger brother was allowed to watch robocop and terminator and stuff!

Home Alone was one of my favs.
When I was 10 I watched Nightmare on Elm Street a few times. Had nightmares for weeks

I was 12 or 13 when I first saw that, at a friend's house! Didn't give me nightmares at least, horror films tend to scare me when I see them but at least I can forget about them then! Never saw any really when i was 10 though so don't know if I'd have been different if I had!

I was pretty obsessed with the Rainbow Brite movie when I was really young, then when I was a bit older it was Aladdin. I can't really remember what else! Oh, no wait, I loved the Homeward Bound films too.

Those are the ones where the animals find their way home? They were cute.

Based on the Incredible Journey books. Except they changed the animals names for the films, and the breeds of the dogs!

Interesting! I think I remember them - can the animals talk in them? (well not talk as in to people, but to each other?)

Yep I think so! Been a long time since I read the book, can't really remember. I'm sure they do! Tis a good book!

It was a siamese cat (in the film it's a long haired thing!) An English bull terrier, which is the old character in the book, in the film it's an American bull dog and it's the youngest character! And a yellow lab, which has changed to a golden retriever in the films!

Same here! I was totally scarred by Nightmare on Elm St, i watched it when i was nine! That's what happens when there's older brothers around!
My favourite film (and still one of my favourites) was Ghostbusters! I remember going to see it in the cinema and just becoming totally obsessed. My Dad made me one of those proton pack things from a piece of hoover and a box!!!
I still hold out hope that one day Ghostbusters will be started up for real and I'll be able to realise my life's ambition!!
