Character with the best connection to the islandWho has the best connection to the island?
Eko - his brother's plane landed there after taking off in Nigeria, half a world away, and isn't the kind of plane that would be able to go more than a couple of hundred miles, never mind seven thousand or so.
Hurley - was in the Mental hospital with Leonard, who was in the navy listening to a broadcast from the island of the numbers before it made him go crazy as his life was ruined. Hurley used the numbers to win the lottery but the money seemed to bring him bad luck, and his investigation of this led to him being on the plane.
Sayid worked with Kelvin in the first gulf war in Iraq, Kelvin later joined the Dharma initiative.
Kate's Dad also worked with Kelvin in Iraq
Libby gave Desmond the boat that he washed up on the island in, which he foudn himself swept back to the island in on the day of her funeral.
Jack met Desmond on the same day that Jack cured his future (and now ex) wife's paralysis, just after meeting Penelope.
For me it's a toss-up between Hurley and Eko, have gone for Hurley because he seems to be connected to the island itself through the numbers whereas the rest are connected to people, I sitll think that there could be a reason that Hurley is there, that he was drawn there bcause he knew about the numbers, he could actualyl be the central character. Remember the episode numbers, and what a revelation that was?

am question why isnt locke an option? surely he has a connection with the island.i mean its cured him hasnt it.an he looked in2 its heart or woteva an didnt die. i think eko was tryin to hav a connection with it an he was brought ther cos it was wher his brotha was an all but his connection cant have been that strong cos well he's dead isnt he. i think rose mite hav a good connection wiv it as well an hurley has a bit cos od the numbers

That's not the kind of connection I meant, more like how the characters are linked to each other, that they've interacted in the past without knowing it? Rose and Locke have a connection of a different kind with it, like you describe, but I meant who has the strongest link before they got there?

i'm going to go with Hurley because the mystery of the numbers is wierd enough and i think that having a character connected with the numbers is great as they are a central part of the island so yeah - Hurley gets my vote

I went for Libby.
Mainly because she had connections with Hurley and Desmond and none of them knew anything about it --- Hurley couldn't remember where he recognized her from and Desmond disappeared before she died and came back after she died, so he never got to see to her... Shame they killed her off...

i voted hurley because i loved season one lost and it was mainly about his connection with the numbers and it was good seeing them appear everywhere
