Yeah I'll be watching match of the day too even though my team didn't play today. Judging by the scores there was some really good matches and I think the cricket highlights are on after it that I avoided earlier.

I'm not into cricket at all, though I did vaguely pick up an interest when Ireland were in the world cup, just enough to listen to the scores though, not to watch! Laughing

I know the half time scores in the Chelsea and United games but not after that, decided to wait till this evening which is weird as normally I listen on the radio. Who do you support?

I like Newcastle, and they seem to have great fans, not sure about Roeder as manager though! Shay Given is from near where I live, my husband played football with him at school.

Wow thats great! I'm sure we'd be better ditching Roeder but the problem is getting a better manager in, I don't think anyone will want to come in, in the state the team are in at the moment.

The fans are great though, you get to see how much they love the club just by visiting the city. Its been a bit hard for us lately though.

Do you support any English club? I'd guess Man U?

Well I hear Allardice is leaving Bolton, he might be good at a club like Newcastle, he seems to know how to how to get results out of players and Newcastle do have better players than Bolton, martins is a good striker and then there's Duffer and Given is a great keeper.

Man U? GRRRR! I'm a Chelsea fan, and right now I'm wondering how much it would cost to take a contract out on Phil Neville's head, did you see that goal? That was a fine striker's finish, I think he forgot what team he was playing for! *loads of expletives*

Laughing I knew the scores so I didn't want to ask if you were a Chelsea fan. Things were looking great for you's at half time too. If only you had beat us last week Laughing

Allardyce has done a great job at Bolton but our fans are rather split over whether he'd be a good manager for us. They are put off with some of this after match interviews and the style Bolton play. He's worth a go imo though.

Owen is back in the squad for Monday, hope he doesn't get injured again.

I feel a bit sorry for Owen, he's had a hard time of it recently, it'll be interesting to see what he's like now when he comes back, he's been very unfortunate.

Bloody Phil Neville, wonder what Fergie will give him for that Exclamation Everton never get turned over normally, they're bastards like that, they're so good at hanging on normally, and then he goes and does that! It's basically over for Chelsea now unless luck finally starts going their way and I can't see that happening, there's still the FA cup and the Champs league though. I like Mourinho, I think he's a great character but he's made a few strange selections recently Sad

I'd say Allardice would be good for Newcastle, I think that with better plays he'll play a better style of football, there's been some good play between Anelka and Campo and Nola this season ,I think if he has players like Solano, Duff, Parker, Martins and Owen available to him he'll get them playing well, I've felt sorry for him a few times at Bolton, he's got them into Europe before and everything and there's a half empty ground, I think a place like Newcastle with really dedicated fans would suit him well. I haven't seen him in an interview in ages as I don't have sky and he wont' speak to the BBC Laughing

He was desprete for the job before Roeder took it over so I do think he wants to do well for a bigger club. Newcastle fit the bill and I'd rather have him in charge next season than Roeder. Roeder was done a great job but he can't handle the big players imo he's excellent with the youths though.

And yes them goals Evertn conceeded were a joke. They should have won the game.

Yeah, Newcastle are a big club but with managers like Souness and Roeder in recent years it's easy to forget that! Yeah, Roeder had been doing well with the youth academy and he'd have been better stepping down after being caretaker rather than taking the job on, I just don't think he's up to the task, he's trying but he's not good enough.

Ah, yeah, bloody Everton, should have known they'd roll over for United. Good luck to Newcastle on monday, I don't really have any particular feelings about Reading, though I do like Kevin Doyle, he's a good prospect for Ireland and we need that the way we've been playing lately, it's mad to think that two years ago I actually saw him playing for Cork City against Finn Harps (my local club in the League of Ireland, they're pretty crap Laughing ) and then he was bought for just £80grand. He should have got young player of the year IMO. I hope Owen is okay though, the poor guy has been wrecked by injuries, he deserves a bit of luck now!

Have you seen how many goals on MOTD have been absolutely hilarious from a defensive perspective tonight? its been like watching a comedy Laughing

Yeah Owen deserves luck and so do Newcastle, an extra 20 goals that he can bring would make a lot of difference to our league standings. Martins has looked very lively but he doesn't score as many tap ins, his goals are usually screamers from way out. Duff had been disapointing but everyone knows what he's capable of and Given has been injured THREE times this season. Now THAT is unlucky, you don't expect that from keepers.

Reading is actually the closest I have to a second club as my uncle lives there and I used to go to a couple of matches there when I was a kid and they were in the 2nd Division (league 1 now). But theres only one team I want to see win on monday Laughing

Yeah, the Roberts goal against Charlton had me laughing as well!!! Duff hasn't done great for Newcastle but I think he'll be better next year, he's been very disappointing for Ireland recently as well, although so have everyone for Ireland, I think my heart actually stopped during the San Marino game...

Yeah Given's injuries have been hard on you, he played so well against a few teams and he's been really unfortunate, as long as he's alright next season and Owen comes back nicely i think Newcastle will challenge for Europe, they could do with another few players in the defence though, Taylor is brilliant and incredibly dedicated but they're lacking in that area apart from him.

Exactly, him and Solano have been great this season and really put their heart into their play. In a couple of years I could see Taylor in the full England squad, he makes a couple of mistakes now and then but thats because he's young. He's in the mold of John Terry, I just hope he gets half as good. Solano should be our first choice right back, he's just so intelligent and its remarkable how good he's been there. But thats it, the rest of the defense needs changing and we are despretly in need for a left back who's not a natural centre back or right back.

I think Solano is still good enough to play on the wing though, I know he's Irish but Stephen Carr is useless at this stage, you guys could do with a proper left back and right back I'd say, and someone along with Taylor.

He really is very dedicated, a bit like Terry as you say but without better players around him he won't reach that level, but if he does have people around him he might. Whenever i think of him I can't help but remember the time - can't remember now if it was last season or the one before but to try to clear a ball he went sliding in and his legs were split by the post and he crashed right into the woodwork in his *delicate area* even as a woman I winced and thought it looked painful Laughing

Laughing I think I can remember that! I'm sure he will too! believe me a man feels the same pain when they see something like that happen to another Laughing

Taylor goes crazy whenever he scores, you should really see fly. He nearly done a lap of honour when he scored his first Newcastle goal, I though he was going to do an injury Laughing He's scored 4 this season so thats good!

Terry is my favourite non newcastle player, he leads by example. Best defender in the world imo.

Laughing Yeah I think I remember a few guys practically doubling over when they saw it Laughing

It's great for the fans when there's a player who really loves the club, I did see him score on MOTD but I don't remember the near-lap of honour thing. Do you go to see them live at all?

Yeah I agree, being Irish I have to hope England don't win too many games Laughing but when it comes to Terry I cant' help but feel bad when they concede, he's an unbelievable player, if hadn't been injured Chelsea would be well in front of United this season. He's so good at reading the game and he gets some good goals as well.

I think he has to calm down in the away matches when he scores but when its at home he runs all over the place. Its great to see a player love the club so much and then celebrates wildly when he scores for them.

I don't go to many games now but I was a season ticket holder when we played under Bobby Robson. I go to my share of cup matches though (because they are cheaper).

Sorry for being away for a bit there but my Dad has actually got his cheek broken by someone and I was just checking on him.

Jesus, that sounds bad, I hope he's okay!!!!

Bobby Robson is great, I still can't believe Freddy Shepherd sacked him after an admittedly bad start to that season and replaced him with Souness, I think he'd have turned it around if he'd been given the chance.

He's now the Ireland assistant manager/football consultant, I wish they'd made him manager and Staunton the assistant as Staunton clearly doesn't know what he's doing(we were within seconds of drawing with San Marino for f's sake and couldn't even beat Wales...), if he was second to a man like Robson he might learn something but he's too stubborn the way the situation is and Robson being the professional he is won't say a word against him...

No Newcastle fan could understand why Bobby was sacked, I presume it was because of the Bowyer/Dyer incident and Freddy thought he had lost control of the team. Perhaps he's a little old to take over a fulltime job now but the man is great and would do a goodjob for any club or national side.

Yeah, that was a bit nuts, the Bowyer/Dyer thing, but personally I think it's more to do with the two of them being tools than Robson, I suppose he is getting a bit old now especially after he had a stroke last year but I really hate the Ireland manager, I think it's similar to the way a lot of English people feel about McLaren.

I do laugh when England get beat, I think a national sillyness gets into the air here or something Laughing but in fairness with the players they had I though they had a decent chance at the world cup, I was disappointed by how they played there, I wouldn't have begrudged them winning it if they'd played well but with Sven in charge I suppose they had no chance.
