black smoke

So by now i will hope that you all have seen the episode where eko dies *tears*, but did you also see in the episode the black smoke? did you see that before every time he had a "halucination" the black smoke was there in the background, RIGHT before it. Is this a clue? my theory: the black smoke IS the halucination, that's why kate could pet the horse; it's remind everyone of their past.
yet another point to this is when after eko's "death speech" "yemi" goes, 'you speak to me as though i am your brother...' could this mean that the black smokes KNOWS it's only 'black smoke'?
yet another piece of evidence, when you pause the episode *on the DVD of season two* when eko is facing off the black smoke, you can see pictures in it!!! they're pictures from his past, now how would the smoke know that about him?

I definately think that the smoke is a facet of the island itself and that it reads minds... as you say, you can see the pictures from Eko's past in it when he faces it off.
