What a week for Chelsea! |
|
I thought this deserved its own topic (nothing to do with me being a Chelsea fan, ahem! )
Can't believe Chelsea fired Mourinho! I know he has a lot of detractors, but he's been a fantastic manager and if Abramovich had let him get on with the job of managing instead of constantly appointing people to interfere with him then Chelsea would be doing a lot better this season! I heard the news at about 6.30 am on thursday (as if being up at that time isn't bad enough without shell-shocking news like that!) and then by the afternoon they'd appointed Avram Grant as manager.
Not sure how I feel about that, he's managed the Israeli national team and one of their biggest clubs, but that's hardly the CV a manager normally needs to take over at a top english club. I hope he does well, but I can see it being difficult, he doesn't even have the proper qualifications! And with Man United tomorrow, at Old Trafford!

Well there goes all interest I have in Chelsea. I think Jose was probably the best and most interesting thing about the club since the way Chelsea play is not too exciting and their Chairman doesn't say a word to the public. Can see them struggling to compete for the title now.

I know Abramovich may have given loads of money but he shoudl keep his bloody nose out of running the team affairs. Mourninho was such a good manager. I've just turned on the radio for the commentary of the Man U game, can't face going to the pub to actually watch it, I feel so sickened by it all.
Still, they might have to get a proper manager in if Grant doesn't have the qualifications. But any real manager like those who have been linked with the job won't put up with someone meddling in the team any more than Jose did.

I'm annoyed by the amount of coverage put on the Chelsea game before and during the newcastle game on sky sports so I'm not watching it either
I think people would feel better about it if Roman came out and explained why it happened rather than hide away. Can't even think who'd come in as permanent boss. . .Cappelo or Hiddink perhaps?

You must be pleased with the Newcaste result at least, especially after the Derby game.
Yeah I'd be happy with either of those, but neither of them would want anyone else hovering over their shoulder, they're their own man, either of them, they wouldn't accept someone else tellign them what players are going to be bought or who should play and they're both more like Mourninho anyway regards emphasis on defence before going for more flair football.

Delighted yeah. If only we won at Derby then we'd be 2nd.
Haven't played fantastic this season but we are getting better.
Saw Roman getting booed as he arrived to the game, this could be really bad for Chelsea. I remember Sir Bobby getting sacked from Newcastle in similar circumstances and the crowd not liking it. We've never recovered from that.

Yeah, I remember that too. Fair play to Roman for the money he's invested, but he's acting like a big bloody child at the moment and the club is going to suffer. I can't see us winning anything this season unless the problems get sorted out really fast.

Roman has to be more realistic, he's acting like he's the only one that has money. . .WRONG! Since he's arrived a lot of the other clubs have become a lot more richer too and have also splashed big bucks on players. Splashing lots on money and paying over the odds on players does not guarentee success, certainly not in Europe.
If chelsea don't get a top coach in then they could drop a few places this season.

I know With a proper manager we have one of the best squads, but without a top manager the players aren't going to be able to do much of anything. And if the players start wanting to leave, as the rumour mill is suggesting....
