Weekend provides intimate setting for mingling with stars

"Lost" actors found themselves among dedicated fans Saturday night when Lost Weekend 2007 held its fan party and charity event. From 8 p.m. to midnight, fans from as far away as Ireland enjoyed heavy hors d'oeuvres with half a dozen actors from the popular ABC TV series, "Lost."

Sam Anderson (Bernard) and Byron Chung (Mr. Paik, Sun's father) were the first VIPs to arrive. Later, Maggie Grace (Shannon Rutherford), whose locks are now dark brown, joined the party wearing one of the most casual outfits there -- a red fitted T-shirt and blue jeans.

Andrea Gabriel (Nadia, Sayid's love) was quite the party girl. Dressed in a little, beige silky dress, she spoke with almost everyone in attendance.

From the beginning, Anderson held a rapt crowd about him, each fan taking their turn to have their photo taken with Bernard. However, once Daniel Roebuck (Leslie Arzt, the high school teacher who got blown up) showed up, however, the crowd that surrounded the lovably annoying scientist was equally large.

Much like the characters he's played on Lost and Nash Bridges, Roebuck is an animated talker with an easy smile.

Rose and Bernard reunited when L. Scott Caldwell (Rose), dressed nicely in flowing black pants and blouse, arrived.

Also in attendance were executive producer and Lost co-creator Jeffrey Lieber and writer Craig Wright. They got up on stage and thanked the fans for being so supportive of the show.

"When we were creating the pilot, we didn't think it would get on TV," said Lieber. "When it got on TV, we didn't think it would last more than one or two episodes. And now we're starting our fourth season. It has been amazing."

While everyone's attention was up on stage, Roebuck took the opportunity to great Anderson. After shaking hands, they hugged. It was obvious from the way the VIPs interacted with each other that good friendships were made among the cast.

Once run by a professional fan party organization, the Lost Weekend is now operated by a trio of dedicated fans, Bob, Caron and Bridgette. In fact, Caron personally cold-called all the actors from the show that were currently in L.A. to invite them. Although many gave positive responses, some wanted to know who else was coming before they committed to attending.

The small, intimate cocktail party surrounded the main event of the evening -- the charity auction. Displayed on a table surrounded by fake palm trees and walls adorned with the Dharma Initiative logo, were a wide variety of collectibles, including Lost action figures from Mcfarlane Toys, autographed photographs and scripts, DVDs and more. Funds raised go to one of Lost creator J.J. Abrams' favorite charities, The Children's Defense Fund.

"Lost" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
