Funny Books |
|
Sometimes I love a really serious, thought provoking read.
Then again there are times when i just want to read something silly that will make me laugh.
For this purpose I find Carl Hiaissen and Ben Elton are just geniuses. I'd laugh out loud at some of their stuff.
If you haven't heard of them, Carl Hiaissen writes books set in Florida, generally revolving around corrupt politicians and reporters or amateur private detectives. The way the villains get their commuppance is masterful in general and there are some great characters in his books.
Ben Elton writes a lot of comedy shows but I think his books are better, especially "This other Eden" - set in the future where Hitler is being cloned so he can be put on trial, it's another laugh-a-minute.

Terry Pratchett's pretty funny. Also, (and it's not exactly a comedy) the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud cracks me up!!

It's not your pseudonym or anything the way you're pushing it? I'll keep an eye out for it, as I mentioned though I've a truckload of books to get through at the moment anyway, really shouldn't be getting any more or the upstairs of my house might collapse!

I've never really read a 'funny book' - although i read sections of Peter Kay's book and some of Jeremy Clarkson's. They were funny.
I think My Family and Other Animals is really funny as well - especially larry.
