Football - Transfer gossip |
|
Thought this deserved a thread of its own as the newspapers are having great fun at the moment speculating on who is going where and for how much, often just to fill pages and often it's purely fictional.
One thing I saw today (on teletext, as I don't buy papers except on a sunday) was that Juventus are going to offer Liverpool French striker David Trezuget as an exchange for Peter Crouch. I just thought this was hilarious. It's from the daily mail...
Also speculated upon was Darren Bent going to West ham - apparently for £18m! I know he's a good young striker but that seems a bit of a ridiculous price tag to me!
Anyone hear anything interesting about who is supposedly signing for which club over the summer?

Middlesbrough have agreed terms with Turkey Striker Sanli Tuncay. A very good striker, too good for Boro imo.
Sunderland have bid for Preston striker David Nugent. A very good striker, too good for the mackems imo

I'll be hoping Sunderland do well next year as Roy Keane is the manager! When Mick McCarthy was in charge though I was screaming for their relegation, I hate him! Don't really care about the club as such!
Nugent has been talked about a lot over the last year, probably be good for him to get a year in the premiership!
Also regards Trezuget, according to the mirror I think apparently Wenger wants to bring him to arsenal as it'll be more likely that Henry will stay then....he's been linked with English clubs every year for ages now, Chelsea were reported to be buying him last year and the year before, I'm not overly impressed by him so I'm glad they didn't, but wouldn't really care if he ended up at Liverpool or Arsenal.

I hate Roy Keane more than any other ex player and I hate Sunderland more than any other club so I'll look forward for the toon getting 6 points against them next season.
I actually think Trezuget would be good in the premiership. Tall, strong and quick, he would cause problems for many sides.

Why do you hate Roy Keane so much?

He was a good player but overated in his years past the champions league winning side, he was a thug that used to cause trouble and he sometimes tried to end careers of other players by purposly getting them injured. He tried to punch wor Al making himself look like a fool afterwards and whenever you hear him speak he just sounds like a boring miserable git. Good enough reason?

I can't really disagree with any of that but I still think he's a legend and I continue to delude myself that Ireland could have been in the World cup final of 2002 if Mick McCarthy and the FAI weren't such unbelievable w*****s!
I always hated United so I never really cared what he did for them but when he was playing well for Ireland he was a legend, he gave it his all and he was a fantastic captain, really inspirational and ambitious! I long for the day when he's the Ireland manager!
He's not that much of a miserable git actually though, that's just the Cork accent makes him sound like that! And he isn't too fond of the media which doesn't help, he talks more to journalists over here than in the UK so we see a different side of him.

i hate roy keane also - he actually admitted in his autobiography that he purposely bad-tackled a city player during a derby, which costs the city player is career and dream - he should of been banned himself

He was banned for a good while for that! I know, I can understand why you'd hate him for that, like I say I wasn't a fan of him as a United player but for Ireland he was fantastic.

he walked out, but McCarthy was on the verge of telling him to go so he got in first - he was right to do it too, much as it kills me that we could have done really well in that tournament if he'd been there the FAI were messing about, they're a bunchy of unprofessional b*******s, they screwed up with the facilities and when he stood up and said that it wasn't good enough they tried to make him look stupid.
It's still pretty complicated over here, some people hate him for leaving but others agree he was right to complain and MCCarthy and the FAI should have backed down.

Well there's talk that Robben has turned down Chelsea's offer of a new contract and wants to speak to Real Madrid...let him i say, bye bye Robben, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out...
Other suggestions include Liverpool buying Benayoun from West Ham, Spurs getting Darren bent after he turned down a move to West Ham and Defoe leaving if Bent comes in.
Sunderland and Villa are chasing Bolton keeper Jaskelainen, and West Ham and Newcastle are still being linked with pretty much everyone and anyone...

Actually Newcastle hasn't really been strongly linked with anyone new for the past week as far as I could see. Its actually a bit concerning for me because I think we need defenders in ASAP.

According to teletext they're being linked with Kanoute, and yesterday they were linked with some striker in france, can't remember the name, it's not strong links though, just the papers making stuff up I think.
Yeah we beat you to Ben Haim and Newcastle sure do need some defenders!

I know, gutted about the Ben Haim deal. I think he wanted to come but the lure of champions league football made him go to Chelsea.

Yeah, understandable in fairness to him, but at Newcastle he'd have been guaranteed a place, at Chelsea he's cover for Terry or Carvalho, I'm glad we got him though, after last season showed how much we need cover when one of them is out!
I'd say Sam has a few tricks up his sleeve yet, he'll probably unearth some defender no one has ever heard of before but turns out to be brilliant.

Heres hoping!
Though I am happy with Viduka and Barton signing, I want us to get at least a couple of players that would top those deals.
Really annoyed about the Owen saga, if he wants to go then he should get it over with so that we can look for a replacement straight away. Still think he is going nowhere though.

He'd be a complete w****r if he left in my opinion, and to be honest I don't think any of the bigger clubs want him, but yeah, he shoudl just say one way or the other if he wants to leave or he wants to commit his future to Newcastle and get it sorted. To leave it hanging is worse than just saying if he does want to go cos as you say, Sam would need time to bring in a replacement.

He should commit his future to the club and sign a two year extension for the two he's missed. Its not fault he's been injured but with the crap he's putting us through at the moment he better take action soon.
